Damien Correll has been one of my favorite designers for a long time now. I’ve had my eye on his Shape Studies set for a while now. I can’t wait until they go on sale.

Years ago, back in 2005, I emceed the Cre824 Conference in Chattanooga, Tennessee. While there I got to listen to a really off the wall talk by Bradley Grosh, aka Gmunk, and have some drinks with him afterwards. He was a really cool guy. I was looking over his portfolio site today and was pleasantly surprised by all the awesome work he’s been doing. These patterns really caught my eye, but you should also check out all the incredible motion graphic work he did for Tron: Legacy. Check his site out here.

I rewatched this live version of Shift from the Blogotheque Take Away Show series last night. I never forgot how incredible it was, but I felt like I was watching it for the first time. It really makes me look forward to a new release by Grizzly Bear.

I came across these paintings by Luke Rudolph yesterday on ContemporaryArtLinks. The colors, the Cubist and Francis Bacon references really hit me in the right spot. Check out his work here.

Check out the work of swedish artist Erik Wåhlström.  The series Familjen struck me as particularly odd an interesting.

If you like looking sharp, then you should definitely check out the online A.P.C. store. I think they do dressed up the right way. I especially love the way they pair bright colors with traditional items like the khaki trench coat and the red plaid shirt and tie. Check out the men’s collection here.

I’m a big fan of portrait photography…and more so just people in general. I love faces. Better yet, I love photography that is taken through glass.  I watched Knife in the Water by Roman Polanski this week and was particularly taken with the opening sequence of the two main characters silently driving down a country road. So much is implied in that sequence. The reflection of the trees above passing over the characters seemed to reflect their inner turmoil. It’s a great slow moving movie about a couple that pick up a hitchhiker and take him sailing.

I’ve also posted a painting by Gregory Theilker. He’s done a series of photorealistic paintings of water on the windshields of cars from the view of the driver. They’re beautiful.

Check out Navis photography and the Alf memoirs too.

This new El Guincho video has been making the rounds for a week or two. I can’t really say enough how much this video appeals to my aesthetic. The colors, the editing, the subject matter, the randomness…the entire thing is perfect. Visually, it reminds me a lot of this and this by Godard. Canada, a production company from Barcelona, Spain put it together. The new El Guincho record is great as well. Check out his myspace page and pick up his music on itunes.
